Electronica

By Ninevolt Staff

DJ Audio Rapture

From Germany to Virginia

What kind of stuff do you spin?

Pretty much exclusively electronic stuff. I have a radio show every Sunday night covering a wide variety - mainstream electronica, IDM, power noise, synthpop, EBM, trance, drum'n'bass... My DJ gigs are mostly electro-industrial (whatever that means these days), with a healthy dose of things that are not put in that genre but have a similar mood.

What cities do you like to spin in?

Hmm... That's almost a trick question, since the only cities I have spun in since I moved to the US are Charlottesville and Richmond. In Germany, I was spinning at small and mid-sized raves in and around Frankfurt years ago (under a different name). Spinning music is a hobby for me. I don't see the point trying to seek shallow (and mostly pointless) relations with promoters across the country just to get more exposure. I can kill my time with more enjoyable things. I like Charlottesville simply because that's where I live. I miss Frankfurt though, mostly for historic reasons. I wouldn't mind spinning in DC's Nation, but see my rant above. I haven't seen Norfolk's scene yet, but Rick Danger keeps saying great things about it.

How long have you been doing this?

I did my first DJ-mix tape 16 years ago ("Pump up the volume", anyone? Bueller?). I've stopped using vinyl about 8 years ago. CDs are so much easier to transport...

What song do you get the most requests for?

"Slut Butt F*cker". You might hear it on the 24th.
